With over 800,000 trees, Frégate currently absorbs roughly 4.2 million tons of CO2 each year. To reduce reliance on fossil fuels. one prototype tractor has been introduced which is fueled with diesel and frying oil mixture. The Staff quarters have solar-assisted hot water systems, and in 2008, the first fully solar powered “buggy fleet” was introduced, saving approximately 41,677 tons per year in CO2 emissions.
