Kenya is an East African state, characterized by the dominant environment of the savannah, protected by numerous natural parks that cover about 10% of the national territory. On the slopes of the mountains and along the river course there are traces of the original rainforest; while in the north, in the least rainy areas, the savannah fades into the desert. The population is divided into more than seventy ethnic groups, belonging to four language families: bantu, nilotic, paranilotic and cuckootic. Currently the largest ethnic group is represented by the bantu group of kikuyu. There are also small minorities of Asians, Europeans and Arabs living in the country.

The yellow fever vaccination certificate is compulsory for travellers coming from countries at risk of transmitting the disease. It is also required indiscriminately for travellers in airport transit only, if this is longer than 12 hours and in any case if they leave the airport of stopover, at these countries (e.g. transit at Addis Ababa airport). In some cases, the airport authorities have allowed vaccination on arrival directly at the airport.
