Helping Elephants

Sud Est Asiatico | Thailand | Chiang Rai

Asian elephants are an honored part of Thailand’s culture. Though still an integral element of the workforce, too often in busy urban areas are mistreated and abused by “mahouts” (elephant handlers). The Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation created in 2005 a safe haven for abused or sick elephants by taking them off the streets of Bangkok and also providing training and employment for their handlers. The foundation currently supports several projects to protect elephants and their habitat in different countries of the region.

Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle

Reached by river boat amid Thailand’s exotic bamboo jungles, the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle is situated on a hill of Chiang Rai, where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Burma converge: that’s why the region is well known as the Golden Triangle. Historically famous for the trade in opium, today is mainly known for crafts, jewelry, silverware, fabrics and embroideries. Known for its surreal scenes of mountains and breathtaking scenery, Chiang Rai has become a point of reference for all those visitors who want to undertake adventures immersed in a scenic beauty. Golden Triangle features just 15 tented suites, unique in luxury. All-inclusive Four Seasons adventures cover every detail, from drinks and dining to river boat excursions to meet local hill tribes.
