Argos in Cappadocia hotel complex is made up of a recovered ancient ruins, caves and underground tunnels, in the 2000-year-old abandoned neighborhood on the hillside facing Pigeon Valley of Uchisar. The result of an ambitious restoration project strongly desired by the visionary owner Gökşin Ilıcalı, in consultation with master architect Turgut Cansever over a period of 20 years, in which the principles of preservation of historical texture are never sacrificed to meet the requirements of the tourism industry. The main purpose of the restoration was to re-create the texture of the neighborhood by restoring and re-constructing a series of traditional houses adjacent to one another and give it a new identity, without losing its unique and ancient local spirit. Today, the hotel contributes to the social, cultural and economic life of the village of Uchisar, with a unique under-ground tunnel, restaurant, wide terraces, gardens and vineyards. A magnificent multi-purpose hall created by the restoration of a 1500-year-old rock-carved monastery (Bezirhane) hosts a series of cultural events from concerts to symposia. A clear example of cultural heritage, significant case study for faculties of architecture and tourism all over the world.
Perched just above the historic rocky fortress of Uçhisar, in the heart of Cappadocia, the Argos resort is an oasis steeped in the history, and culture of Turkey. Its structure emerges from the ruins of an ancient monastery and extends through an ancient network of tunnels and caves of 2000 years ago. Its living spaces, divided into seven structures and obtained from the renovation of the ancient houses carved into the rock, reveal the excellence of local architecture and craftsmanship. Argos has 51 rooms and suites, some of which are made from caves and others with private swimming pool. With its terraces, gardens and spa, the Argos resort offers traditional Turkish hospitality. The Seki Restaurant-Lounge-Cellar offers a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional dishes, created with local products many of which come from the Oganic garden of the hotel which also has its own wine production, Argos Vineyards. Being in an area rich in many places to visit, such as the castle of Uçhisar and the UNESCO World Heritage Göreme Open Air Museum, Argos is a virtuous example of enhancement of the historic site on which it is built and respect for local tradition.
