Inkaterra Association was founded to conserve the environment, ecosystems, cultural, archaeological and natural resources and to maintain an ecological balance. It also works to support Peru’s cultural identity and sustainable development. Part of Inkanterra profits are invested in the association activities.
The Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel is probably the best hotel in the area and is located 5 minutes walk from the new station at Aguas Calientes. Ideally situated in 12 acres of cloud forest beside the Vilcanota River, the hotel comprises 83 comfortable rooms each slightly different from one another, all having great views out over the park.
The architecture is Spanish colonial in style with stone archways and red tiled roofs. There’s a definite homelike atmosphere inside the hotel, with colorful handcrafted furnishings and spacious rooms filled by plenty of natural light. Guests can enjoy the restaurant overlooking the Vilcanota River and the Unu Spa, which offer typical Andean experiences using local products and techniques. The park is home to more than 214 species of birds and over 372 species of orchids, indigenous palms, ferns, begonias, fruit trees and medicinal plants.
