LOCAL SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Working with the Locals

Centro e Sud America | Peru | Lago Titicaca

Titilaka has been working for several years with a nonprofit organization that supports communities around the lake through donations or the purchase of local handicrafts by visitors. Through its foundation, it recently created a series of projects directed at improving the economic conditions of more than 50 local families. In fact, Titilaka is funding a weaving project in collaboration with Klaud, a Lima-based fashion company that promotes new methods of using traditional Andean textiles. The project will provide free training courses for members of local communities to make the best use of their ancestral skills in the creation of contemporary products and thus have a new source of income. Titilaka also supports the local school through teaching English and conducting seminars and internships at its facility. Many of Titilaka's other initiatives involve building infrastructure that gives local communities access from drinking water to wifi.

Titilaka

Titilaka is a remote Experience Lodge located on a private peninsula on the shores of Lake Titicaca, Peru. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, it allows guests to indulge in the splendor of the unique and unspoiled Andean landscape where sky, land and water come together. The property's contemporary design integrates with the natural environment and makes it a welcoming place while respecting its Inca origins. Consisting of 18 suites, spread over 3 floors all with lake views, it offers a pleasant stay where you can alternate between relaxation and a wide variety of excursions by boat, mountain bike, foot or car. The most impressive are exploring the Andean communities on the islands of Taquile or Uros, visiting the archaeological sites of Chullpas de Sillustani and the splendid colonial churches in the towns of Juli, Pomata and Lampa. Guides promote local traditions, customs and culture protecting their preservation. Titilaka is committed to reducing its ecological footprint through the use of hydropower and natural gas and by sourcing from local producers. The lodge actively collaborates in the implementation of various projects for the socio-economic development of the local community, in which it is possible to participate during excursions.
