Tenuta di Castellaro has adopted for all its vineyards a particular cultivation method called “ad alberello”. This methodology represents a very ancient cultivation system linked to Sicilian and Etnean traditions, ideal for places characterized by scarcity of water resources. The method requires that the vines, endowed with taproot apparatus that allows it a supply of minerals deep in the soil, are planted at the apex of an equilateral triangle at a distance of 1.20 meters from each other, so that each plant has a 360-degree exposure to weather events and can constitute a single individual, within the “vineyard” community.
Tenuta di Castellaro, located just 20 minutes from the center of Lipari, is nestled in the picturesque Aeolian countryside, in an unspoiled setting that enhances the volcanic nature of the Aeolian Islands.
