Habitats and Biodiversity

Sud Est Asiatico | Bhutan | Punakha

The Bhutanese COMO hotels, Uma Paro and Uma Punakha, are actively involved in the cultivation of native tree species and work with local authorities to support reforestation efforts, in particular with the restoration of local blue pines and cypresses. The COMO Uma Punakha also stands out for its reforestation efforts, as well as the creation of flower beds around the property, and a number of organic vegetable gardens, where some of the raw materials used in the facility's restaurant are grown.

These interventions are bringing significant results, fostering the return of a rich and diverse birdlife, thus contributing to the revival of the local ecosystem and the maintenance of biodiversity.

COMO Uma Punakha

COMO Uma Bhutan welcomes guests to the heart of the mystical Himalayan Kingdom, a Buddhist country that rises between China and India. The property consists of two award-winning lodges: COMO Uma Punakha and COMO Uma Paro, both recognised as the best hotel and the second best hotel in Asia respectively by the renowned Condé Nast Traveler magazine. Together, they offer an unparalleled experience that will take you into the soul of this extraordinary country.

COMO Uma Punakha is an intimate and refined lodge, with only eight rooms and two villas, located in the heart of the sacred Punakha Valley, one of Bhutan's most picturesque and significant places. The lodge, which looks like a hidden gem, is set on a scenic hillside overlooking the Mo Chhu River, offering spectacular views. The atmosphere here is unique, and its location is ideal for exploring the Himalayas, hiking between villages and temples, visiting the famous Punakha Dzong, attending local festivals and enjoying the thrilling experience of white-water rafting. A perfect fusion of relaxation, adventure and culture for those seeking a complete experience.

Like the COMO Uma Paro, the COMO Uma Punakha exudes the unmistakable COMO atmosphere, with healthy dishes served in the Bukhari restaurant and Shambhala-style wellness treatments, offering an ideal retreat for body and mind.
