The Rascard is a traditional alpine hut used for storing grain after harvest. The Hermitage Hotel boasts two Rascards, both recognized as valuable historical documents: one dating back to 1862, located in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, and the other from the 16th century, near the organic vegetable garden, about 1 km away.
The 1862 Rascard has been expertly restored, retaining its old-world charm, and furnished with period furniture and local crafts that enhance its authenticity. The second Rascard, dating back to the 16th century, is being renovated, with the goal of preserving and handing down these historic structures, which were once essential to prevent moisture and protect grain from rodents. A project that combines respect for tradition and a commitment to the enhancement of local historical heritage.
