Borghi dell'Eremo has been structured with a focus on optimizing and saving water and energy resources through home automation. It is thus that state-of-the-art software monitors weather forecasts and wind intensity by cross-referencing the data with the moisture in the soil detected by probes and irrigates only the land that needs it by interrupting the flow should too much wind disperse the water beyond the sprinkler's range of operation. Outdoor lighting and charging stations for the facility's vehicles and clients come from more than 200 photovoltaic panels while the facility's water is heated by a new generation boiler that uses biomass from olive tree prunings and undergrowth.
