Ilboru school for children with special needs.

Africa | Tanzania | Serengeti National Park

Ilboru School for Children with Special Needs, located in Arusha, Tanzania, is a pioneering institution dedicated to the education of children with hearing impairments and physical and mental disabilities. Established over a decade ago with funding from Sanctuary Retreats Philanthropy, the school was the first of its kind in the region, initially focusing on primary education. It was later expanded to include a two-story, five-room secondary school, built in partnership with Tanzania's Ministry of Education. This ministry provides teachers specially trained to work with children with disabilities. In addition to standard academic courses, the school offers vocational skills such as sewing to prepare students for the job market and make them independent. Ilboru School is a model of excellence in inclusive education in Tanzania, significantly improving opportunities for children with special needs.

Sanctuary Kichakani Serengeti Camp is a luxurious mobile camp located in the heart of Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. This camp offers a unique safari experience, combining the comfort of high-quality accommodations with the excitement of being immersed in the wilderness. One of the distinguishing features of Sanctuary Kichakani is its mobility: the camp is moved between two locations, in the north and south of the Serengeti, to follow the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra . This allows guests to always be in the best positions to observe this extraordinary natural phenomenon.

The camp features luxurious tents that combine traditional African elements with modern comforts. Each tent has private facilities, including a shower and flush toilets, a comfortable bed and elegant furnishings that create a refined atmosphere. The name "Kichakani" means "in the savannah" in the Swahili language, and it is in this environment that guests can enjoy safaris led by experienced local rangers, participating in morning and evening game drives. These excursions offer the chance to spot the Big Five (lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, and rhinos), as well as numerous other wildlife species.

In the evening, guests can gather around the traditional campfire, swap stories under the starry sky, and listen to passionate guides share their knowledge about wildlife encounters and local legends. Sanctuary Kichakani also offers opportunities to meet and interact with local Maasai communities, allowing guests to learn more about their culture, traditions and way of life. The camp is committed to sustainability and conservation, operating with minimal environmental impact and using eco-friendly practices. In addition, the camp contributes to local conservation projects, supporting environmental and wildlife protection.

Guests can enjoy gourmet meals prepared with fresh, local ingredients, with dinner often served under the stars, creating a unique and atmospheric dining experience in the heart of the Serengeti. The Kichakani is an ideal choice for those seeking a safari experience that combines luxury with direct contact with the wilderness.
