LOCAL SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

School and Nutrition Community projects

Africa | Zimbabwe | Hwange

Wilderness Safaris and many donors work closely with the schools and communities that lie on the boundaries of Hwange. Over the years they have provided classrooms, clinics and libraries, including teacher training programme. Since 2008 Wilderness Safari have provided one meal on every school day of the year to the children of five schools of Hwange. Nutrition and School programmes are only some of many other initiatives established to support local communities.

Wilderness Little Makalolo

Little Makalolo lies in one of the best game viewing areas:  the Hwange National Park ensuring a great variety and numbers of animals year round.  Overlooking a vibrant waterhole, the small camp offers wildlife activity even from the pool or having breakfast and it is the right solution for guests who enjoy privacy and the sense of remoteness . The six traditional-style tents, including a family unit, are spacious and en-suite, with indoor and outdoor showers. They are connected to the main area by teak walkways, where a towering false mopane tree shades a separate dining and living area. An open fire deck offert convivial evening under the stars. The pool deck shelters the bar and breakfast ‘room’ with evocative views of the much-frequented waterhole in front of camp. Solar power is used for tent lights and to heat water, ensuring a lighter environmental footprint. Game drives, walks and cultural activities are available for guests.
