Inkaterra protects over 17 thousand hectares of Amazon rainforest, promoting the reduction of approximately 3,315,000 tons of CO2 each year. It was the first tourism organization in Peru to measure the environmental impact of its activities through collaboration with the Institute for Earth and Biosphere and the University of Leeds in England, which began in the 1990s. Environmental protection programs by Inkaterra include the evaluation of the surrounding atmosphere, landscapes, flora, fauna, water and air in the Southeastern Amazon Rainforest and the Southern Andes.
