Set in the 300,000 acre of the Selinda Reserve of Botswana, Zarafa has gone totally solar from October 2008. It is probably the first premier quality camp in Africa to convert totally to solar power to generate all the camp’s 220v electricity demands, including the running of ice machines, deep freezers and a number of other energy hungry appliances. Only recycled hardwoods and canvas were used in the construction and a bio-gas system converts vegetable waste into usable cooking gas.
