Wilderness Hoanib Skeleton Coast

Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp is located in a remote area of the Kaokoveld, with gravel-covered plains and dry river beds that attract large numbers of wildlife. Fully solar-powered, Hoanib Skeleton Coast is a joint venture with the nearby reserves of Anabeb, Torra and Sesfontein and a research camp for the study and conservation of animals that have adapted to the desert. The tented camp consists of eight large en-suite tents with bathrooms, a main area and swimming pool overlooking a wide, rugged valley that descends to the Hoanib River. Game drives explore this isolated area, travel along the riverbed’s narrow ribbon of vegetation, where a high concentration of desert-adapted wildlife can be encountered. During your stay you can reach the Skeleton Coast by car or by plane.

West Namibia in Kaokoveld and it is a perfect spot for adventurous explorers looking for itineraries out of usual paths.The standard sleeping 2 tents are of a pale olive colour, perfectly merged with surrounding area. The tents are fully insulated with canvas roof and concrete foundation on stilts, all ensuite and wide open deck, ideal to unwind after a day touring. A sandy path lead to the common areas.Wilderness Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp is elegant and quiet, in perfect harmony with surrounding nature adapted to desert.

At the Hoanib Research Centre, presentations by, and interactions with, wildlife researchers are pos ... sible. Learn all about the current research supported by Hoanib, especially Dr Philip Stander's vital work who, together with his team, studies the unique desert-adapted lion. You will hear about the tragic Vanishing Kings lion coalition, as well as the ancient stories and legends of the Skeleton Coast. The excursion is abject to the availability of researchers when in camp.
