Built in 1894, the Taj Falaknuma Palace was the residence of the illustrious Nizam of Hyderabad, known to have been the richest man in the world.
The palace has 60 rooms and suites, meticulously restored under the guidance of Her Highness Princess Esra, the Turkish wife of the last Nizam, who decided to breathe new life into the enchanted place that now overlooks from above the “city of pearls,” named for its past as a pearl and diamond sorting hub.
Every corner of the palace tells stories of a time past, of sumptuous dances and regal celebrations, a world in which visitors are welcomed as nobles from a distant kingdom. Walking down the Grand Staircase, one can almost hear the echoes of the footsteps of the Nizam, the European royals, and the charming Begums who once enlivened that palace.
Culinary delights await those who cross the threshold of the palace's restaurants. At Adaa Indian Restaurant, flavors blend in perfect harmony, while at Celeste, specialties from different cuisines come together in an unparalleled dining experience. You can enjoy breakfast at Gol Bungalow and private dinners at South East Garden and Jade Terrace, moments of pure magic where time seems to have stopped. For those seeking wellness of body and soul, the J Wellness Circle offers holistic treatments based on traditional principles; the wellness menu completes the rejuvenating experience.Durbar Hall, the Jade Room and the giant dining room adorned with Belgian chandeliers are places where royalty and contemporary elegance meet, making each event unforgettable. In the gardens and terraces, visitors can breathe in the air of the past and feel part of history. The palace concierge will be happy to arrange tours of the city's artistic and cultural wonders, such as the Charminar, Mecca Masjid, Golconda Fort, Chowmahalla Palace, and the famous Ramoji Film City.
