A varied itinerary for those wishing to discover the many facets of this wonderful and wild land, from the boundless spaces of the Masai Mara, famous for the spectacular migration of wildebeest, buffalo and zebra that cross it, to the Samburu reserve, on the region's northern border, which combines scenic beauty with vast spaces and abundant wildlife. Stay in the wonderful Saruni Basecamps.
Arrival in Nairobi clearance of customs formalities. Meet with the Saruni Basecamp representative for the transfer to nearby Wilson airport from where the flight to Samburu departs. Arrival after about an hour's flight and transfer to the camp. In the afternoon, first game drive inside the Kalama Conservancy, 200,000 acres of pristine wilderness with breathtaking views. Return to the camp, dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, depart for game drives in the Samburu National Reserve.
What makes a safari in this reserve unique is that here, as well as being home to many species, it is possible to spot some animals that are not found in other Kenyan parks and reserves, such as the Grevy's zebra, the reticulated giraffe and the Somali ostrich, which, together with the giraffe gazelle and the fringed-eared oryx, or East African oryx, make up Samburu's “Special Five”.
The reserve is also home to many other species of mammals, birds and reptiles: lions, leopards, cheetahs, lycaons, several species of antelopes, gazelles, warthogs, jackals, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles and more than 450 species of birds, but above all a large number of elephants; it is estimated that more than 900 live here and it is very common to see them as they come down to the river to drink and refresh themselves. A picnic lunch is provided during the safari. Return to the camp in the afternoon. You can relax with a massage treatment (shoulders and neck) offered by the camp. Afterwards dinner and overnight.
After breakfast at the lodge morning game drive followed by lunch and a walk in the reserve. In the evening there is another game drive in the Kalama Conservancy ending with dinner in the bush under the stars. Return to the lodge and overnight.
After breakfast departure by plane to Mara; after a flight of about an hour and a half you arrive at Masai Mara; picnic lunch during transfer to camp. Upon arrival opportunity to relax or join the first safari within the Mara North Conservancy. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Breakfast at the camp. Morning dedicated to game drive to discover Masai Mara predators. Return to the camp for lunch. In the afternoon another game drive in a particular area of the reserve where the largest "giraffe tower" can be spotted. Return to the camp for dinner. Overnight stay.
In the morning walk through the valleys and plains surrounding Saruni Mara or jeep game drive to the summit of Kilileoni, the highest mountain in the Masai Mara Serengeti, accompanied by experienced Masaai guides. In the afternoon, visit the northern part of Mara. At the end, weather conditions permitting, we will dine in the bush in the midst of nature under a beautiful starry sky, cheered by singing and dancing by Masaai warriors around the campfire. Return to the camp and overnight stay.
After breakfast transfer to dedicated airstrip; on the way brief stop at rhino sanctuary. Depart on flight to Nairobi. On arrival continue to international airport. End of services.
