Founded in 2005 as a winery, the Castellaro Estate has played a key role in the rebirth of the hamlet of Quattropani, a corner of the island of Lipari once forgotten and left abandoned. Designed to blend harmoniously with the surrounding landscape, the estate skilfully combines tradition and technological innovation, minimising its environmental impact. Its architecture expresses a perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality, in total harmony with nature.
Surrounded by rows of Malvasia and Corinto Nero vines, the Castellaro Estate welcomes guests in three exclusive micro-residences, offering an authentic and immersive experience. A model of sustainability, the estate stands out for its energy efficiency and enhancement of the land, demonstrating how respect for the earth can be transformed into a more conscious and respectful future.
Arrival on Lipari. You will reach Tenuta di Castellaro, immersed in the unspoilt landscape of the island, 9.5 km from the port. Upon arrival, you will check in at the residence of your choice.
For the best start to your relaxing stay, we suggest a guided tour of the wine estate. Here you will discover the authentic soul of Castellaro, starting with the restoration of sapling cultivation, an ancestral method of Sicilian and Etna tradition, perfect for soils characterised by low water availability. During the tour, you will immerse yourself in the fusion of tradition and innovation, admiring the solar chimneys and the wind tower, ingenious natural systems dating back to the 10th century B.C. that illuminate and ventilate the winery without any environmental impact.
You will end the day with a tasting of the estate's fine wines, letting yourself be enchanted by the sunset and a spectacular view of the sea, a perfect moment to savour the authentic beauty of Lipari.
The Kaolin Quarries represent the geologically oldest part of the island of Lipari. Here, intense volcanic activity has resulted in spectacular alterations of the rocks, creating a landscape of astonishing polychrome hues. For the inhabitants of Lipari, this place has always been a source of wonderment, where the bright colours of the rocks, the whispering of the wind and the scent of the sea combine to create a magical atmosphere.
To protect and enhance this extraordinary natural heritage, the Castellaro Estate has launched an ambitious reclamation project, transforming the Kaolin Quarries into a geo-mineral park accessible to all. In collaboration with the Centro Studi Eoliano (Aeolian Studies Centre) and the Nesos Association, the estate organises guided tours with nature experts and cultural events to make this authentic open-air museum known. We recommend you dedicate the morning to one of these excursions, during which you can admire breathtaking views of the island.
In the afternoon, treat yourself to a moment of relaxation at one of Lipari's beautiful beaches, such as the charming Papesca, with its white sand, or Valle Muria, perfect for snorkelling.
At the end of the day, indulge in the authentic flavours of the archipelago with dinner in one of the restaurants of the Consortium of Restaurateurs of the Aeolian Archipelago. This alliance originated to promote, with intellectual honesty, quality and sustainability, the culinary excellence of the area and its extraordinary raw materials.
Possibility of dedicating the whole day to an excursion to the nearby islands with frequent scheduled services to Salina, Vulcano, Stromboli.
